Inspiration. Calm. Happiness. Stress Reducer. Relaxing. Movement. Joy. Sorrow.
These are the words I received from different people as I asked them this question; what does music mean to you? As I move into my last term at Prairie and wait for the official hard copy of my EP, I've had time to reflect on the last few years, the music I have created, what has happened through it, and how I have grown. The one thing that keeps coming to my mind is how much music means to me and how it has changed me.
Since starting this journey and fully immersing myself in learning and participating in music, I have learnt to never forget that music it is available. God has given me this gift, this passion instilled in my heart to sing, play, strum, create, inspire, articulate emotions; it is always available for me utilize through different stages of life, and this is what I have been aware of in the last 3 years. When life gets difficult I find myself running to music to be calm, reduce the stress of the situation and ultimately worship God. When joy is boundless I find myself listening to music and dancing with delight. Psalm 95:1-3 "O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods" As my time at Prairie comes to a close, I begin to try and figure out what God has in store for me and the music I have created. I know there will be times of confusion, feeling adrift, or a lack of purpose but I look forward to trusting Him with my music and His perfect timing.
My EP is just about ready to be distributed and my release concert is in the works! I look forward to sharing it with you and I pray it will touch you in some way. Thank you for following me through this EP project friends!
