1 Corinthians 13 "love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take int account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love Never Fails."
I had the privilege of sitting in on a few classes with musician and songwriter Jaylene Johnson this past week. In one of her sessions she asked us about the verse above and what it meant, her response was as follows, "Without love we are just a bunch of clanging cymbals." I pondered this statement and realized what it fully entailed for my life. Do I love others with patience, kindness? How do I show love? Am I just a clanging cymbal making noise? Or am I a sweet melody that encourages?
What about when love requires a difficult conversation? Or a difference of opinion? How do we respond in love without clanging our cymbals so loud that no one can tell us their opinion and all we do is make a spectacle of ourselves, and too much noise. I'm still learning what this looks like for my life, but I would love your input so comment below!
Quick update on the recording process for my EP. This week I also was able to get into the studio for a quick session, I had the opportunity to work with session player Mitch Jay. He brought some of my songs to life with a few different instruments to add colour and brightness to the songs. I also move into the 'big' studio next week where I'll be recording my full songs at OCL in Calgary. This will be an amazing experience and I can't wait to hear the songs come to life. I look forward to sharing these with you in April. Keep an eye out for more updates as I continue this incredible journey.
